The fact that it is valid in more than 60 countries outside the USA increases the importance given to AP. With your AP score, you can be accepted to international universities such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Oxford, MIT providing advantages such as scholarships and loans.

If you are considering a university education abroad, the scores obtained separately from each course provide advantages such as exemption from those courses and counting as credits, especially in the first year of university. In this way, students can complete their overseas university education earlier, and the course load of students who want to do a double major is significantly reduced.

The Advance Placement program provides a great advantage especially for students who aim to apply to universities abroad. Students who successfully complete this program and get high scores in the exams prove that they are ready for undergraduate education and have the opportunity to get ahead of the candidates who make standard applications. In addition, candidates who have completed some courses before they start university can spend more time on double major studies. Some students can start their department courses earlier by completing the introductory courses required by the universities before they start their undergraduate education. Students who score well on the AP exam are also more likely to receive scholarships from universities in Europe and the USA.

This program is run by the College Board, which also administers the SAT exams. In Advanced Placement, exams are offered in 38 different courses in 6 different areas.

The AP exam includes multiple choice questions as well as questions that require short answers and essay writing. Depending on the chosen courses, it is possible to encounter different question types and assessment methods. AP tests are evaluated with a grade of 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest. Multiple choice questions are evaluated by the computer, while short answer and essay questions are graded by experts trained in this field. Students who take 3 AP exams and get at least 3 out of 5 in each will have the title of AP Scholar.

Exams are held once a year, in May. Exams for each topic are administered separately, so you need to take a separate exam for each topic. Applications for the exams start in February.

If a successful grade is not obtained in an exam, the exam for the same topic can be taken again in May of the next year.

It is not necessary to have taken an AP course to take the exams. The important thing is the exam score. Students can attend the AP preparation program at their school, prepare for the exam themselves, or attend personalized classes.
